On Amazon, archived orders used to be past purchases that had been hidden and were difficult for anyone else to locate.

 Orders that were archived weren’t removed; rather, they were moved to a less accessible location.

People mainly used this feature if they bought something for someone who already had access to their account and didn’t want a gift surprise ruined. As of August 19, 2025, this option is gone entirely, so that use case no longer applies.

How Archiving Orders Used To Work On the Amazon Website

This feature is no longer available, but for reference, here’s how it used to work before Amazon retired it in August 2025:

1. Sign in to your Amazon account here.

2. Hover over Account & Lists and click Orders.

3. Locate the order you want to archive by scrolling down. Click Archive Order in the lower left corner of the order.

4. Amazon will ask you to verify if you want to archive this order. Tap Archive Order again.

5. A message confirming that the order has been archived should appear on the top of the screen.

What Happened To My Previously Archived Orders?

If you archived orders before August 19, 2025, you don’t need to hunt for a special section anymore, Amazon automatically merged everything back into your regular “Your Orders” list when the feature was retired. Order archiving alone never hid your browsing activity anyway. If someone else has access to your account, they can still see your browsing history.

You can ensure you leave no trace by removing your browsing history. Here’s how to do that:

1. Sign into your Amazon account and hover on Account & Lists. Select Browsing History from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, access your browsing history directly through this link.

2. Navigate to the item you want to remove and click on Remove from view. This will delete it permanently.

While this deletes your browsing history, there’s still no way to permanently delete your Amazon orders.
